The Centre for Research in Architecture, Urbanism and Design (CIAUD), Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon, in conjunction with the Centre for the Humanities (CHAM), Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, NOVA University of Lisbon , the Centre de Recherches sur les Pays Lusophones (CREPAL) Sorbonne Nouvelle - Paris 3, Paris, and the Centre de Recherches Interdisciplinaires sur les Mondes Ibériques Contemporains (CRIMIC), Sorbonne Université, Paris, invite researchers from different scientific fields and cultures to gather at Université Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris 3, October 2019, at the International and Multidisciplinary Congress PHI 2019, under the theme "INTELLIGENCE, CREATIVITY AND FANTASY".
The purpose of the Congress is to bring together researchers from all scientific fields to explore and discuss three entangled concepts. The first motto is INTELLIGENCE, the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, understand complex ideas, learn and apply knowledge, but also to think quickly, using emotions and feelings. The second motto is CREATIVITY, the capacity that human beings have to create, to produce, to invent, to face and to solve problems by original and unconventional means. The third motto is FANTASY, often linked to reverie, fiction, utopia, extravagance and originality, always dependent on intelligence and creativity, advancing alternative ways of seeing, feeling and understanding the world.
These three concepts are the cornerstones of most of the transformations one observes in human societies, in all ages and in all areas, such as science, arts, humanities, politics, culture.
The organizers of PHI 2019 thus launch a challenge to the scientific community, from all fields of research, to engage actively in a multidisciplinary discussion with the concepts INTELLIGENCE, CREATIVITY AND FANTASY as core points.
