Application Process for Entry 2023-2024

The online application process is open until May 8, 2023. You should consult the dates for the formal application procedure here.
 
  • Selection committee's review of applications : between May 22 and May 26, 2023
  • Interviews dates: the week of June 5, 2023
  • Admission results : the week of June 12, 2023
Candidates are admitted to the MA Programme on the condition that they secure an apprenticeship scheme with one of the LVMH houses by the start of the programme on -.
 
  • Individual interviews with the HRs of the LVMH group from June 12 onwards.

Objectives

The programme objectives relate to a number of professional profiles within the fashion creative economy:
 
  • fashion design and product development
  • set design and retail design
  • fashion media and communications
  • fashion culture and luxury brand heritage

Through their professional experience during the programme, students will learn how to develop a design proposal related to the specific strategic needs of fashion/luxury sector, cultural institutions linked to fashion/luxury, PR, communications and trend forecasting. At the end of the programme, students produce a professional dissertation examined by a jury of academics and professionals.

Programme-specific Information

The Masters programme in Fashion and Creative Industries at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris 3 is run in partnership with the École Duperré, École Supérieure des Arts Appliqués, Paris. The programme includes there a separate class for those students who obtain apprenticeships with the LVMH design houses through the Institut des Métiers d’Excellence.
  • The Professional Dissertation
    Students produce a professional dissertation, which charts the development of their individual project in the context of their professional work as an apprentice during the programme.
  • The Main Project
    At the end of the MA programme, students make formal presentations of their work in front of a panel of academics and practitioners. The presentation format will vary according to the framework and content of the apprenticeship (fashion/accessories collection, set design project, retail design project, cultural project, communications project).

Entry Requirements

  • Degree and entry requirements:

    The first year of a Master’s programme (obtained with a merit or distinction) or equivalent in Applied Arts (fashion, design and related visual or applied arts disciplines), Media Arts (Culture, Communications, Film and Media Studies, Drama and Performance Studies), or Humanities and Social Sciences (Literature, Languages, History, Sociology)
  • For International Students:

    Degree equivalent to the first year of a Master’s degree.
    At least a C1 level in French language.

  • To be eligible for the apprenticeship scheme the maximum age for applicants is 29 (or 30 years of age during the year of study).

  • Recruitment Criteria
    Written application and interviews.

    The selection process for entry to the MA programme involves both a written application and a two-stage interview process: an internal interview with teaching staff from the Sorbonne Nouvelle and École Duperré and external professional interviews with HR of the host company or the HR of the LVMH design houses and brands in the case of the specialised IME class. The written application should set out your professional motivation and goals together with your academic trajectory providing full details of any degrees awarded (level and length of study) and any relevant professional experience. The application should also include a CV, a formal cover letter and a portfolio for the fashion/design students or a formal professional project with visual portfolio of images for the culture/ communications students. If your application is successful, you will proceed to the first stage of internal interviews in June, followed by possible professional interviews with HR should you move on to the second stage in July.

    The Portfolio

    A portfolio of visual documents illustrating the candidate’s research or experience in design, communication or heritage, should be sent separately to M. Sébastien Riblet, département de Médiation Culturelle.
