Application as an exchange student

The Office of International Affairs (DAI) welcomes many foreign incoming students. If you wish to study at Sorbonne Nouvelle in an exchange program, a cooperation agreement must already be in place between your home institution and our university.You have to be selected by your university to be an exchange student.

Step 1 - Your nomination by your home institution


The coordinator from the international office must send by email the list of nominated students to:

Nomination calendar for your home institution:

  • 1st semester (Fall) / Full academic year: from February 15th to May 15th (ERASMUS until May 31th).
  • 2nd semester (Spring): from September 15th to November 10th
     

Step 2 - Your choice of courses


You can choose courses in up to 3 different departments:

Please be careful not every English courses are available, make sure to make alternative choices.


You will find below information about the intensive French course (pre-entry, optional) and the French courses during the semester:
- French language
- methodology of academic exercises
- French culture

Step 3 - Your online application


Once you have been nominated by your home university, you must apply through our online form.

  • ID picture (passeport size)
  • Copy of official ID document
  • Cover letter in French,
  • Provisional list of the classes you would like to attend at Sorbonne Nouvelle (indicate the code and name of each class)

Please note:

  • Candidates should have a sufficient level of French to allow them to follow lectures and write academic papers (level B2).
  • Caution: we do not offer French classes at beginner's level. However, classes are available for exchange students who wish to improve their language skills, knowledge of the French culture and acquire a methodology.
  • At the beginning of September, free intensive French lessons are organized for exchange students, upon registration.

Step 4 - Organize your stay at Sorbonne Nouvelle

Once your application is approved, we will send out your acceptance letter.
Then you can start the following procedures.
